Recovering from the Freezer

Good News, the Files Still Open!
It has certainly been a while since I've sat down and dedicated serious time to this project. Aside from some things that came up in my personal life I took some time to try freelance development to see if I could sharpen my skills on projects for other people. I also worked on getting an artist for ArchitectTD which was an interesting challenge. All of this to say that while updates stalled out for TheWeave this project is FAR from finished.
With that being said, here is what I plan on doing to see this next phase of work get completed. I sat down today and tried to draw up a basic roadmap. Something that I could stick to with simple deadlines that would be easy for me to accomplish. You should be able to see that graphic at the top of this post. If for whatever reason you're having a hard time seeing it, this is the basic gist.
- Combat (Low-Level) Implementation by EOM September 2025
- Act 1 Side Stories Introduction by EOM October 2025
- Act 1 Boss Fight Complete by EOM November 2025
As you can probably guess, the end of this year I am going to be heavily focusing on combat for the game. After getting the grid system up and running and getting basic abilities working, I stepped away from combat and started to work on other areas. Menus, Overworld Design, Story and Dialogue, a whole bunch of stuff. You will see a few of those changes reflected in the update coming at the end of this week and it's what I've been working on off and on this year. But now it's time for me to get back into the nitty gritty number crunching of the combat system. The tactical strategy elements are a core aspect of this game so I will be dedicating the next few months to getting the first 5 PC levels to a technical state that I feel represents the gameplay loop I'm envisioning.
I don't want this post to run on too long so I'll say one last thing and then end it here. As part of this roadmap I also plan on posting semi-regular Devlogs. Not only will it be a good way for you to see how my updates are progressing, but I believe it will be a good way to keep me on track with my own roadmap. So expect more of these in the coming weeks!
